Language Arts 6 


In Language Arts, we will be learning how to become better writers. We will do this by increasing our vocabulary so we have better word choice in our writing. We will be learning how good spelling, excellent grammar, and punctuation skills help our writing become more fluent. Writing is very similar to building a house, without a good foundation, the end product will be worthless. In writing, the basics are grammar, spelling, and capitalization. We will become masters at perfecting the foundation of our writing, and we will work in perfecting our finishing touches to produce excellent written works.The curriculum is aligned to the Apache Junction school district standards*, as well as the state standards. We will use the 7 traits of good writing in the class, as well as the 5 steps of the writing process. In addition, we will be improving our computer skills and typing the majority of papers in class. We will also be working on our public speaking skills.


There will be homework assigned daily and weekly vocabulary assignments. We will have spelling/vocabulary assignments every week.

Welcome back. This will be an exciting and memorable year. I know you will all be successful in sixth grade and I can not wait until school begins.
