During this class, you will learn to question the world around you. We will be studying different topics such as Ecology, Chemistry, Matter, Motion and Speed, and Newton’s Laws just to name a few. This class is very hands on, so come prepared for an educationally exciting time!

All of my students are excellent and I am really excited about the new things we are learning every day!!




CLASSROOM PROCEDURES & EXPECTATIONS

Entering the classroom:

1.      Walk into the classroom.

2.     Hats should be removed.

3.     Normal speaking voices will be used.

 

Food in the classroom:

1.      Food & gum should not be brought into the classroom.

2.     Drinks NEED to be in a bottle with a screw top lid.

3.     ALL trash needs to be disposed of before the class will be dismissed.

4.     Failure to follow these procedures will result in loss of privileges for all classes.

 

Getting to work immediately:

Class begins when you begin to work. The goal is to be working by the final bell. In order to accomplish this, please follow these procedures.

 

1.      Please pick up any required papers for the Mind Set from the filing cabinet in the back of the room.

2.     Get your lab manual.

3.     Sit in your assigned seat.

4.     Take out your student agenda, science folder, and homework.

5.     Write the objective and homework in your agenda from the board.

6.     Place agenda, homework, and science folder in the upper right section of your location.

7.     Start on the Mind Set.

8.     Your mouth should be closed and your mind should be open.

 

Using the telephone:

Students may use the telephone only at the end of class. Please do not ask to use the phone at the beginning of the class.

 

Working in groups:

Because many of your class assignments are laboratory experiences, you will be working in many groups. Most of the time, I will assign students to a group. Individuals in the groups will be responsible for gathering/returning materials, collecting/organizing data, analyzing data, and making conclusions. Please listen carefully during the introduction of a lab experience for detailed procedures.

 

 

Assignments:

1.      First AND Last name need to be placed in the space provided or in the upper LEFT hand margin.

2.     Please also indicate the period and date on the top of the page.

3.     If the heading is already provided, as on a worksheet, please fill ALL OF THE SPACES out correctly.

4.     Assignments turned in late may have points deducted.

5.     Please only use pencil to complete your assignments. Papers completed in colored pens or markers will be returned to you to be done correctly.

6.     All assignments need to be completed using correct grammar and punctuation.

 

End of class dismissal:

1.      Clean up your working area. Throw away all trash. Return all supplies to their proper locations.

2.     Sit in your assigned seat.

3.     Wait quietly for the teacher to dismiss you.

 

Should you finish early:

1.      Remain quiet (no talking).

2.     You may work on other tasks, but please remember that this needs to be put away once the rest of the class is ready to move on.

3.     CD players and other electronic equipment should not be used during class time.

 

Leaving the classroom:

1.      Please wait until I have finished giving the daily lesson before you request to leave the classroom.

2.     You will not be permitted to leave in the last 10 minutes of class.

3.     Lost or stolen passes will not be replaced.

 

ATTITUDE:

Please do your very best to keep your attitude positive while in this classroom. Your attitude and behavior affects everyone in this classroom. I try my best everyday to be my best for you. I expect the same effort from every student in this class.

 

 

EFFORT:

Sometimes school is hard and life is even harder. Remember that what is difficult will only make you stronger. Refuse to give up and always keep trying.

 

 

EXPECTATIONS:

Expect to be challenged this school year. Expect to work hard. Expect to be smarter tomorrow than you are today. Expect to be better.

Homework assignments turned in on time, in classroom format, in pencil, with each problem neatly attempted, receives full credit and a yes stamp. Late or incomplete work receives half credit and a no stamp.
