Procedures
Students are greeted at the door by the teacher. Students are to
quietly enter the room and pick up a mindset slip (or the mindset
journal for Choir) and work on the mindset from the board while
the teacher takes roll and stamps. If the student finishes the
mindset before the directions are given for the assignment, he or
she may read quietly.
Classroom Rules
* Follow
directions for use of tools and art materials
* Be respectful of
other students property and feelings
* Respect school
property
Art
Students will be studying different types of drawing, painting and clay activities. We have kilns on site, so all work will be fired and glazed at the school. Students will be studying different artists and techniques used by those artists, and will be exposed to many different types of art from historic times through modern times. Math, Language, Science and Social Studies objectives will be reinforced through art activities.
Choir

Choir students will learn some beginning music theory and apply it to singing. We will be working on target singing, annunciation and clarity, range and blending as a group. Songs will be performed at various school functions throughout the year. Soloists will be chosen through auditions for different parts. We are planning on adding an Honors Choir at the end of December. Students will be invited to audition for the Honors Choir based on ability, behavior, participation and cooperation. Auditions will be held and members chosen for a special performance later in the year. Thunder Mountain's choir is geared to prepare students for the high school music program.
