Character Counts
What is Character Counts?
Character Counts is an idea that's quickly becoming a national movement. It's time for people to start talking again about good and bad, right and wrong. It's time to encourage ethics among children and adults businesses. It's also time to recognize and reward individuals whose lives are examples of good character and ethical behavior. Now is the time to begin again to teach our children the value of good character.
What are the Six Pillars?
Trustworthiness, Respect, Caring, Fairness, Responsibility, Citizenship
How
did Thunder Mountain get involved?
The principal and a few teachers went to a conference and learned what Character Counts is and how other schools use it to promote the Six Pillars. Then, a TMMS teacher completed a grant request and received money to help get the program started. Another TMMS teacher scheduled the Character Counts kick-off presentations with Big Mouth Presenters. The rest is history!
Who participates in Character Counts at TMMS?
EVERYBODY PARTICIPATES! This means, students, teachers, support staff, custodians, aides, and anyone else who works here.
What are the benefits of Character Counts?
Character Counts can substantially cut discipline problems at
school. In Iowa at a school's detentions dropped 89%! In a school in Illinois,
suspensions dropped 50% in three years! Let's see what we can do here at
