Class Description

This course covers National Standards for Instrumental Music levels of accomplishment. We stress the intrinsic values of performance, and have fun covering several repetoires of Music Literature, as well as learning to march, and play in two parades. In addition to intense playing during rehearsal, we devote time to Music Theory, along with written assignments. All of this helps achieve our ultimate goal of attaining the highest level of performance, while experiencing the most important "joy" of playing.

Rehearsal Procedures

1. Be in your seat prepared (Instrument ready) within 3 minutes upon entering the band room. Be prepared for the music order"WARMUPS" written on the front board.
2. REHEARSAL BEGINS WHEN I STAND IN FRONT OF THE ENSEMBLE. At this time I ask that you not talk or play. Focus on listening to instructions.
3. Dismissal: I will give ample time to put your instrument away. After properly storing your instrument return to your seat. CHECK YOUR STAND AND CHAIR. I will dismiss after the bell if the room is in order.
We have some business to take care of before actually playing, and this goes quickly once everyone understands the routine. ***NO FOOD, GUM OR DRINKS (except water) are allowed in the band room.

NO TALKING DURING REHEARSAL

** REMEMBER: Silent and listen are spelled with the same letters!**
